3 Things You Should Know Before Traveling In A Larger Body

Let’s talk about traveling in a larger body.

You deserve to travel and feel nothing but joy and gratitude for this one beautiful life that you have regardless of how your body looks, how much you weigh, the size of your clothes, or the number on the scale.

In a previous blog, I shared why the phrases “Summer Body”, “Beach Body”, and Bikini Body needed to disappear because we are not supposed to manipulate our bodies to look a certain way just to be able to do the things that thin people do.

Like traveling.

So today, I’m sharing 3 things you should know before traveling in a larger body!

Know that bad body image days happen.

When you’re traveling in a body that isn’t society’s definition of perfect, every lump, bump, and dimple (even period bloating!) can make you feel negative about yourself. And that’s when bad body image days are bound to creep in.

I want you to know that this is totally normal. So normal that I shared some of my favorite tips over on Instagram for dealing with bad body image while traveling!

Know that the negative voice in your head doesn’t have to win.

Traveling is stressful in and of itself. You don’t need to make it harder on yourself by letting that tiny voice in the back of your head bully you and get the best of you.

Show your skin! Embrace your cellulite. Wear the damn bikini!

And tell that voice to get lost.

Know that you are worthy of living your best life in your body regardless of its size.

One of my favorite quotes is, “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” And this quote couldn’t be more true!

You deserve to live your life. To travel. To visit all the places you’ve always wanted to see. And to let go of those negative thoughts about your body that make you feel like you aren’t worthy of booking that trip, of getting on that plane, of relaxing poolside with a drink in your hand.

Because you are worthy. No society and no arbitrary number or deeply harmful phrase can ever take that away from you.

So travel to new places, try new foods, and see new sights! Go wherever your heart yearns, sip a piña colada or two, and screw the rest.
